What is LPG ?
It is the liquefied petroleum gas (C3-C4 fractions) coming from the refining of crude oil. It is marketed as :
commercial butane
commercial propane
a mixture of butane and propane known as Butapro
What is commercial butane?
Commercial butane is a hydrocarbon mixture made out mainly of butane and containing less than 19% of propane and propene. NT 04.52 (1990) standard.
What is commercial propane ?
Commercial propane is a hydrocarbon mixture made up at around 90% by propane and propene. As for the surplus, it contains ethane, ethylene, butane and butene. NT 04.52 (1990).
Is it possible to use LPG as fuel for cars ?
LPG is a clean fuel for cars. The LPG combustion inside engines brings about low quantities of pollutants when compared to gasoline and diesel oil.
What are the advantages of LPG?
low sulphur content
high octane number allowing the increase of the engines' compression ratio
